My Daughter’s Name is “Shrusti”

Yes, my daughter’s name is Shrusti and yes again that my Father and Mother do not know about this happening. This has been one of the good experiences I had, for the three months I have been in the ‘Act’ and ‘That’ resulted in ‘This’ and the outcome has been sweet so far. I felt now is the time the world knows about this.

This happened during my first job which was a new internet startup company and I was working with some great and good looking people around. During this time my job was to promote the website in different forms on internet. Right from talking to people on this, promote the activities we do on different social networking sites, web forums, expat sites etc etc. on one such promotional activity I reached a woman’s forum and a lady from Bangalore was the target as she was looking for something the our companies site was offering. Now rather than make it looking like a direct sales pitch for the site, I registered myself with woman’s name, as it was a forum dedicated to woman ONLY and contacted that lady (Say X). We exchanged pleasantries and she registered to the website and both the company and X got want they want. It was a job well done so far but what was to follow was interesting.

A day or two went by without any communication but the next day came a direct mail from her to my personal mail id with which I registered to the forum asking me about my baby and work, and how was I handling both at the same time. Now why would someone ask a question like that….no surprises…..since I posed as a working woman from Hyderabad with a 7 month old baby, just so to relate to her situation. She had 3 month old boy …..7 month old baby and working!!!!!! You must be crazy….I never knew what is working with a baby….and had to handle this situation. Straight away went to my then Lady boss at that company and she was laughing her lungs out seeing the mail and what I did earlier….what did she do? Gave an apt name for that situation and gave the name “Shrusti” – a creation, for the baby and said go my boy you will have a time of your life.

And Yes I did…what followed was phenomenal and kind of eye opener for me. For a week or so we both communicated one on one, on various things from work to baby’s nappy brands. Later while she was doing some stuff in the forum she did mention my name on some similar experiences we both had. This triggered a chain of mails from lot of ladies with suggestions and reactions. Now when you are swimming in unknown waters you could have followed the tide but no…….I responded to one of the reactions and it was like the whole forum was at logger heads to determine what I did was right or wrong. That forum was an expat forum with 300-350 active members….during this time, including the forum moderator there were 13-15 ladies who joined in for our talking and the comments were flowing left right and center. Okie the topic was about in-laws behavior and husband’s reactions….now imagine what could have happened. This followed a series of suggestions for a week from different members sharing their experiences…even a lady sent me a rule book for woman kind of stuff that she follows. This all gave me a view point of what a woman goes through from both the ends- her family and in-laws….hey also add the husbands side that is all together a different world. I could manage this of another month and later bid my goodbyes to the forum saying that I was leaving for Singapore with my “Husband” to live there. I chose Singapore with a little confidence because I visited that place and if at all I need to involve again, which did not happen, I could have some references to use. They all wished me good luck…and I just hope none of those ladies see this blog and start cursing me because I did not mean or have any wrong or malice intentions what so ever.

And yes this creation will remain with me forever as my daughter… “Shrusti”
