Corporate Bad Habits
These are few habits that I have acquired after a few years in corporate world. For sure I do not know if they are good or bad but for the time being will tag it as bad habits.
Filtered / Mineral Water: Basic necessity, but never was I used to bottled water or filtered water not even at home. But these days we go out for a dinner to a new place, it will be only bottled water (or so called mineral water). Lately this has become a default behavior; even a well known waiter at a regular restaurant does not ask for type of water we prefer but just brings two bottles along with the order.
Liquid Hand Wash: In marketing terms this should be one product that has been put into our heads very well. And I am getting so used to it that if I do not see it at the wash basin I feel something is missing.
Toilet Paper: At home, on a Sunday morning, I wake up and go to the wash basin, brush my teeth, just to get that fresh feel I pour some water on my face. Till here it is fine, after that I use some hand wash soap and wash my hands and then with my head down I sprinkle some more water on my face and now I raise my right hand and try to pluck something out thin air, it is paper!!! Unable to do that magic trick I just raise my head and see my face in the mirror and laugh it off. But more on a serious note I should get away from the paper usage or gradually reduce it.
CFL Lighting: Surely there is a power saving part to it but personally I have taken this to a new level. Everywhere I go, right from office to recreation places I only get to see these CFL lights, be it Hall, conference rooms, canteen, bathrooms etc etc….this is one common thing that has become a part of my life and I have also replaced few lights in my house because of that. Every room has got one, and mainly in bathrooms I have got high wattage bulbs as if, if my eyes do not see those white light even my body refuse to cooperate in there.
English: Never in my life will I be a good exponent of English language but the kind of usage that is going around with me, at time surprises me. I cannot speak in my mother tongue or national language without shoving in a few sentences of English. The best part, everybody seems to be fine with it and they get their bit of fun and joy from it.
Hand Sanitizer: This is one new thing that is catching up fast with others and best part is that I use it after washing my hands just for the silly reason that my hands smell better after that.
Last but not the least!!!
Cola’s: Yes, Cola’s. When you are celebrating, when you are dinning out, Birthday’s or whatever be the occasion there must be some brand of Cola in your hand and without it the occasion is incomplete. On an average I was having 2 liters of cola drinks per week, which I have brought it down to a liter per week. Somehow I am still finding it difficult to get away from it or reduce it further.
Also do tell me if you have any from your corporate world experience…..
