Dying Romantic

Some day when I am dreaming, deep in love and not a lot to do, that day I will remember the few below things that I am slowly losing touch with.

Writing: Yes, I used to love writing letters with my own hands rather than typing them. I had a liking for ink pens and just writing with that pen made me feel good. Apart from letters I used to indulge with the little bit poet in me and flirt a little (with words). It is used to be fun; right now I only send email and blog at times. In the current times I am only remembered by email address, may be in days to come, people will think that Raghu’s mails in Calibri font with text size 11 used to be so much fun. For me, when I can see some one’s hand writing on the envelope and remember them, then read the letter and recollect the memories, is such a good feel. Yes, the good old snail mail methods and yes that might categorize me as a person from Stone Age but there is still some romance left in it for me. Need to get back to this habit.

Gardening: Hmm might sound like a girly thing to do but for me this used to be a good stress buster. Planting different types of plants, esp. flower plants used to be a favorite with me. The very sense of playing in mud and water, getting your hands all brown, spoiling your cloths was one hell of joy.

Rains: This might be something most of us would want to do and were most probably denied to do as a kid, getting drenched and playing in rain. Right now, slight drizzle before going to office can irritate you because you might get late to work; similarly rain at EOD also troubles you. People travelling in bikes face it all the more, if you think car can save you from getting drenched but traffic jams won’t let you get the complete enjoyment either. Recently one morning while coming back home from work, it was raining and just to live the love for rain, I removed my shoes put them in the front pouch of the bike, folded my shirt till elbows, folded my pants till knees, put my bujji backpack in front, put my helmet on and drove back home slowly at 45 kmph speed….was some good fun.

Cinema & Movies: Used to be a movie junkie long back where first day first show (Sorry morning shows…when else do you get to bunk college) used to be an “In thing” to do. But now it does not really matter to me much, you get to watch them within 2 weeks of the release though DVD, pirated copies or web downloads.

Scrabble: This was one beautiful game that I got used to very late. First played it at a relative’s house and then on it caught me like wild fire. Now I have got a board of my own which is accumulating dust in the cupboard. Along with it are few other indoor games that I have not indulged lately like chess and playing cards.

Car Rides: For a person who was taught driving as an alternate career option rather than a new learning process, driving my own car around used to be such a big achievement for me. The car still stands out as the one big achievement personally and a kind of testament, of all the melodrama I have gone through. Now even that is fading out, partly you can blame it on the rising fuel prices and mostly on my laziness.
